Flying fish soar through the sky

First thing seems quite fish or to high flying. There is 40 known speices of flying fish that swim in the warm waters of the ocean.

The process of them tacking off and flying is started in the ocean. First they swim upwards at an angle traveling at 37 mph (60 kph). Then the four winged fish break the surface and fly up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) in the air gliding up to 655 feet ( 200 meters).

Snakes are Loose!

Ever thought how many types of reptiles there are in the world? How about even more direct? Ever wondered how many types of Snakes there are? Well I have some answers! This blog post is all about snakes, exciting right!

First off there is over 2,700 species of snakes, never knew that. Snakes live everywhere you'll find them in rain forests, jungles, even your backyard. The only places you won't find them is the arctic circle and the antarctic.

Snakes have a plate of armor we call scales. Snakes scales keep them dry and allow them to slither over rocks and sand. Did you know that the reason snakes shed their skin is because their living scales are ready to become their outer layer because those scales are dead.

Ever wonder why snakes are so flexible? It's because they have between 100 and 400 vertebrae and just as many ribs. Snakes have 2 lungs, a long liver, kidneys and intestine. The last part of a snake is a small anal opening covered by scales called an anal plate.

Did you know snakes have four ways of moving? Way one is the Concertina method: when snakes bunch themselves up and throw themselves forward. Way 2 is the Serpentine method: when a snake pushes off of a bumpy or big surface and move in a wavy motion. Way 3 is the Side winding method: where the snake will lift up the middle of it's body then force itself forward. Way 4 is the Rectilinear method: where the snake uses some scales on it's body to move forward slowly.

Welcome to The Nature Preservers Blog

Hello and welcome to the Nature Preservers blog. On this blog, I will cover all things nature--how you can help to preserve the world. I am concerned about global warming, being "green" and even the loss of the rain forest.

My name is Cameron and I am your host on this blog. I am happy to accept guest bloggers and would very much like it if any of you would be a guest blogger.

If you want to join my efforts to preserve nature, please comment below with your email address. I will have Angela Atkinson of The WM Freelance Connection review your sample blog post and say if you are good enough or not.

If you would rather send it to Angela Atkinson directly, then send it to her at angela@angelaatkinson.com. Thank you for your time. :-)
